Working with your EDA toolchain
paramita ltd is happy to work with your in-house toolchain, if you already do electronic design or have a paricular preference, paramita ltd will work with you to develop under the process that you already use. Particularly, paramita ltd has experience using the OrCAD, & Altium Winter '09 pcb design software.
gEDA - the alternative, to take away
paramita ltd uses the gEDA [gpleda.org] toolchain for all in house development and high profile product developments for international clients. There are many advantages to using an open tool; firstly, it costs nothing to view your files - our designs belong to our clients! Secondly, we only use open file formats - this means that you can take your design elsewhere if you are not completely happy. Finally, when bugs do arise, we are able to fix the problems in the toolchain ourselves (or hire somebody to do it) which means that we aren't reliant on third party software.
The advantage of using gEDA is that my clients truly take ownership of thier designs, its no good delivering designs in a format that my client can't even open to view! paramita ltd works to build satisfied repeat customers, not vendor lock-in.Andrew Whyte [Electronic Design Engineer & Director]
What is gEDA?
gEDA is a collection of Electronic Design Automation tools; using them, an Electronic Engineer can develop schematics, simulate circuits and layout PCBs. gEDA is licensed under the GPL, this means that it will always be free for you to use. The tools are modular, this gives Engineers the freedom to use the tool chain in a way that suits them. The project website is at: http://www.gpleda.org/
How can I find out more about gEDA?
gEDA can be downloaded from www.gpleda.org or the repository of most major linux distributions, paramita ltd is currently working on a liveCD to allow users with other operating systems to benefit as well, in the mean time you might try Fedora Electronics Lab [fedorapeople.org] by Chitlesh Goorah. We are also working to create some training support, drop us a line if you are interested:
